Loose Pugh – The Badal Conspiracy

When the rich wage war its the poor who die, when the Akali's wage war its the blood of the Panth that's spilled.

For years now we've heard accusations of Badal being the puppet master, using the SGPC and the Akal Takhat to do his dirty work, but in recent weeks with the situation in Punjab, Badal's grip on Punjab, the Panth and his true motives have never been clearer.

See as much as we want to believe that the recent weeks have shown the Panths ability to come together and group against a common foe, that the Singh's in Punjab are tired of taking things lightly and are ready once again to rise up, the truth is far from it. Rather what the events of the recent weeks have shown is that Badal has the power to manipulate the Panth into serving as his own personal army.

Lets face facts although what the Dera chief did was wrong, it's not the worst that's happened . See as bad as doing beadbi and attempting to make a mockery of the amrit sinchar is, he's not the first to do it. Mann Chand, the Naamdharis all beat him to that punch and have been doing it for a while now.

If it's the fact that he's a pakhandi sant with the guise of a Sikh, with multiple CBI cases against him ranging from murder, rape etc then again he's not the first, there have been worse, Nang Phula, Mann Chand and countless other so called Babay who have raped innocent girls only doors away from Maharaaj ta Darbaar roam free in Punjab with seemingly full immunity, some even with Badals blessing and support.

If it's the fact that his followers have hurt peaceful Sikh protestors leading to one Singhs shaheedi, then why is it that the likes of KPS Gill, Amita Bachan, Ashotoush and Noormalia, haven't been asked to surrender, after all shirly they have spilled more sikh blood then this clown.

Why is it that a small band of "bhajangi Khalsa" a force that has been reported to be no greater then a few hundred young Sikhs, been placed in charge to deal with the Dera's if they refuse to abide by the ultimatum set fourth by the Akal Takhat, knowing full well that the Dera and its followers won't go without a fight. If this were to happen and a confrontation to ensue then the the Singhs involved would no doubt be outnumbered and made to give up their lives attaining Shaheedi, which could easily be avoided simply by increasing the #'s of these fauj's. After all why sacrifice a drop of blood if it isn't needed?

Now lets not also forget that Malwa the center in which the Dera has the most clout, reportedly voted 60% in favour of Congress as opposed to apparently having had a long history of being an Akali hot seat. Knowing that Badal has used strong armed tactics in various forms in the past to intimidate the electorate could this attack not be seen as nothing more then Badal merely flexing some muscle? It will be interesting to see how such of an effect on the polls closing of the Dera's and everything else that has gone on, has next time around.

Lets not also dismiss the mixed signals coming out of the various parties. For instance the Hukamnaama for a full out closure which after realizing lack of jurisdiction to this regard has been re-evaluated to being a favourably worded apology.

The natural question that comes to mind after all of the above is why? What do the Badal's and Akali's have to gain from such actions. Well being able to coerce the Akal Takhat into making concessions does Badal not come out looking like the good guy the one who brought an end to the protests, exuberating the leadership expected of him? The cool head in a tense situation makes him look gold. Would sacrificing many more of our youth if need be not serve to rile up the Panth into a full out war against the Dera? Most likely the case, which again goes to server the Akalis more then anyone else. Why is it that the Dera is the target of all this as opposed to other individuals who have done the Panth more harm in the past 20 years? Is it because the others cooperate with Badal and are on his good side? Could it not be, because the Dera can be touched and the wrath of a few thousand poor is less feared then that of the political might that could be possibly felt if one went up against the likes of KPS Gill or Ashotoush? What about the fact that such actions serve to only strengthen the Akali party which Badals son is being groomed to take lead of in the near future. Giving him the party, after presenting the need for an Akali goverment in punjab, only serves to impower and ensure that the Badal legacy and tenure of terror continues.

I fully understand and realize that we could play the game of "what if" all day, and speculation is nothing more then hearsay with legs, but given the past history of the Badal's and SAD, it would be ignorant and deviant-ly deceitful on our own parts to at least not look at the situation from as many different angles as possible, after all, "If you can't see the angles no more, you're in trouble."

If this is a Badal ploy then it sortive backfired. Because it has brought together the more ‘militant’ minded singhs, ones that have a common ground on issues like Khalistan and Badal himself. This is the last thing Badal wants, he wants khalistani’s to stay out of the limelight. It hurts his alliance with the BJP and his credibility as a chief minister.
But I do agree that there is something not quite right about the situation. There has been numerous other Baba’s who have actually done beadbi of SGGS, and there was never the call for youth to stand up and be ready for shaheedi. But maybe this was the last straw and enough people just snapped.
I disagree that this is some Badal ploy, it just doesnt add up. He is milking the situation for all its worth, and Badal is a powerful man. But not powerful enough to get the very Singhs that despise him to lead protests for his own agenda. This is hurting Badal’s alliance with the BJP most importantly, why would he risk that over some baba?
Also, it wasnt Badal who put the Ad in the paper, or from anything I can remember it wasn’t Badal or his associates leading the outcry against him at the beginning of all this. (i could be wrong about that tho)

Wow. Now, I came onto this website realizing that it is a blog, and that they are views, and not all views are supported with facts, some with emotion.

Lets get one thing straight, in the monds of politicans and the educated, Khalistan cant and just legistically wont happen. So if you think that Badal has spurred on a militant type of singh in Punjab, your just being naive. It is simply not a coincidence that politicans and the educated such as world leaders and writers such as Khushwant Singh are against thoughts of Khalistan. It is not their alliance to the BJP or to the Indian Government, it is simply realizing the facts.

To think that there is a mass movement to supress the sikhs and certain sikhi movements, is just another example of us sikhs playing the victim role that is all too common.

If us individualistic sikhs who live far away from the issues werent so ignorant to reality and facts, then maybe we could see reality for what it is.

  5. I’ll ignore the last comment, no need to get side tracked. But dam that Kushwant Singh mention is just itching for a reply.

Read this on a reply from the long thread going on about the dera issue at sikh sangat. Thought it was interesting. Singh who wrote it is situated in Punjab, so has some credibility.

    >>it will be extended i m sure from akal takth sahib …. chota badal has full pressure on akal takth and SGPC regarding this …. but the truth is this joint action is now broken …. every one knows its politicalised now …. every singh is now looking at their jathebandi for command then akal takth sahib …. inside truth taksal or SSF or nihang jathebandis knows that AKAL TAKTH at this point cant lead the kaum now with akali dals pressure ….

    Harp,

You are wise on side-stepping the Khalisan issue, because when it comes to intellectual debates, Khalistanis are much like Heather Mills, they barely have a leg to stand on..

Having said that, I really do enjoy watching the pure ignorance of sikh youth spring into action. We bow our heads at the Harimandir Sahib but we dont even respect the basic institution.

Just like selective, uneducated, egotistical sikhs do, some choose not to accept facts if it requires hardship, pain, and anything that may go against what they believe is the honour of Sikhi.

After the actions of 1984, the selective permability of Sikhs and their religion has increased ten-fold. For example, some Gurdwara’s are now refusing to acknowledge the Dasam Granth as a holy scripture from the hands of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, even though, on 3 separate occasions, Sikhi leaders and the Akal Takth claimed it from the hands of Guru Gobind Singh Ji? WHY? Because some sikhs argue unifies Sikhism and Hinduism, which they do not want to happen… Prior to 84, even prior to 47, the Dasam Granth was widely accepted all over the world, and now, it is only primarily recognized in India.

Now what do we have? The re-emergence of that selective Sikh permability, and now, they are rejecting the authroity of the Akal Takth. Similar to MILLIONS of other instances, the small amount of sikhs will group their dislike with the Akal Takth, with their other dislike, the Indian Government.

When you are this hateful, and so unaware of 5 theives, you rarely are able to see instances that go against your perferred ways of thinking. The Akal Takht has supported and made decisions that are notoriously against Indian nationalistic thought. The Akal Takht have also made decisions that us Sikhs may not like. But the reason we have this institution is because unlike many of us, they uphold sikhi values.

I find it absolutely interesting that people can so readily oppose and challenge the Akal Takht and where their alligance stands, but cannot look at their our situation, and how basically ignorant we are to Sikhi values.

    Bottom Line is as follows…

We continue to challenge our religious text, our religious leaders, and our religious instituations proclaiming they have lost their way…

BUT NEVER did we once think that maybe our hateful, ignorant, separatist values (all of which our Guru Granth Sahib Ji states will happen in this day of age) have de-railed us from our true sikhi way of life, humanity and brotherhood….
